PRODUCTION

What does organic mean?

Luomu is an abbreviation established in the Finnish language for organic land
from the food industry and that means organic,
environmentally friendly and ethically high-level food production method. Organic combines the best production methods from an environmental point of view, high
requirements for animal welfare and consumers' wishes for high-quality and natural products.

The organic conditions are defined in the EU organic regulation, and every organic farm, organic food manufacturing company, importer and store that sells organic products in bulk is inspected annually.

Are all your products organic?

As a rule. Some supplements and superfoods are those that cannot receive the organic label due to the natural growth environments of the raw materials. Even then, however, the products are as natural as possible.

Organic production is closely monitored both in the world and here in Finland. We have up-to-date certificates for all products sold in our online store.

Where do your products come from?

Our products come from suppliers and manufacturers located in EU countries. All organic products have EU organic production certification.

Can imported organic be trusted?

Yes, both domestic and foreign organic can be trusted. Organic is strictly controlled in all EU member states. Different EU countries have their own practices for how supervision is organized, but the rules are the same.

In Finland, all organic farmers, manufacturers of organic products, importers of organic products and significant
grocery stores that sell organic products in bulk belong to organic control and are therefore committed to complying with the EU's common organic regulations.
Operators belonging to organic control are inspected at least once a year.
Inspection visits ensure that organic regulations have been complied with. Only operators who have passed the inspection can sell their products as organic and use the organic label.

Organic products imported from outside the EU must also meet the same requirements as products produced in the EU.

Most of the approximately 50 additives allowed in the production of organic food are natural. The amount of permitted additives in organic food is
anyway limited to only essential substances and, for example, only natural flavoring substances are allowed. The use of many permitted additives is very limited, such as use, for example, only in the rind of a certain type of cheese.

Can the products be used if the best-before date has passed?

The "best before" label refers to the product
minimum shelf life. The best-before label is not used for easily perishable products and for example dry products such as flakes
and porridges, are stored properly

The usability of the product can be evaluated by the senses after the best before date has expired.
