The clove tree, native to the North Maluku Islands of Indonesia, can grow to a height of 15 meters. The Arabs brought it to Europe in the fourth century. Its strong aroma is reminiscent of warm wines in winter.
Clove essential oil is obtained by distilling unopened flower wood, which has a very high essential oil content (15-20%). In this process, the volatile components of the clove (essential oil) are carried away with the steam. The vapor is then condensed in an essential oil separator, separating the essential oils from the hydrolate (water).
